Jack Henry
2019
The Jack Henry building, named for a long-time tenant of the same name, is a 1954 historic preservation project located near the County Club Plaza. The building had been vacant for over a year and was in need of significant infrastructure and utilities updates to avoid demolition. Drake Development invested $70 million using Port KC bonds to renovate the building and attract new tenants. The project will also include developing an additional small tower at the building’s SW corner.
Port KC provided the project with $44 million in taxable revenue bonds that provided a sales tax exemption on construction materials. This project also received a special Port Improvement District for the building that does not include any property tax abatement.
